The beginnings

I studied English Literature at Loreto College, Kolkata, along with history and psychology, and then marketing communications at the St. Xavier’s College of Communications in Mumbai.

Soon after, a series of serendipitous events landed me the Nike national public relations account as my first job which was equal parts terrifying and exhilarating. Working with the best in the business, I had to quickly earn my stripes; those early years were a whirlwind of drafting strategy, crafting stories, pitching media, briefing the CEO, and building relationships with stakeholders. The cool thing about your first job is that you don’t know what can’t be done, so you go ahead and well, just do it.

Of companies and clients

Over the past twenty years I’ve been fortunate to have worked at communications firms such as J. Walter Thompson’s IPAN, in India, MSL, a Publicis company, in Chicago, at Reputation PR, the MSL affiliate agency in Australia, and as an independent communications specialist with McCann WorldGroup, Weber Shandwick and the Omnicom Group in Singapore.

Clients have included Nike, Hindustan Lever, Special Olympics, MTR Foods, P&G, General Mills, Monster.com, The Australian Federal Government, Mastercard and Philips among others.

My training and experience have largely been in Corporate and Marketing Communications Strategy and Implementation, Media and Stakeholder Engagement, Media Training, Crisis Communications, Brand and Product Launches and CSR Communications.

Hot Men in Linen, Poetry and Penguin

While the majority of my professional life has been in communications and public relations, I also founded an apparel company with a somewhat cheeky name called ‘Hot Men in Linen’ (I know!) in Singapore, which I successfully ran for three years. While building my own business gave me much needed flexibility with a young family, it was invaluable first-hand experience in being able to see the entire marketing effort more holistically and being able to track spend to output with even greater clarity.

It did make it difficult to go back to the nine-to-five though. When escalating rentals in Singapore necessitated saying goodbye to the store, I took that opportunity to reconnect with poetry.

In 2020, I published my debut book, Whorls Within, with a foreword by the leading Indian poet and songwriter, Gulzar, who called it ‘A hypnotic exploration of worlds within.’

In 2022 I published my second book, Unburden, commissioned by Penguin India, which was co-authored with the internationally acclaimed teacher and coach, Nithya Shanti.

Pause with
Nandini

Since then, I have worked on creative projects independently or as a part of various teams and collectives. I currently host and produce a show called Pause with Nandini on an Australian media platform called NRI Affairs, where I have conversations with an incredibly diverse line up of guests, from activists, actors, and authors to blockchain experts, puppeteers, and financial wizards. These are available on the NRI Affairs YouTube channel and as podcasts on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.

Why White Possibilities

More now than ever, I value flexibility with my time, as much as I enjoy working with incredible clients and teams who bring so much value to my life. Today the world offers an unprecedented opportunity for our community of creators and allied services, to go beyond a work-life balance, and truly create a way of living where all aspects of our life are integrated.

I believe that when people have an opportunity to work with greater autonomy, within a supportive and respectful environment, they truly thrive and are able to produce their best work.

With that idea in mind, White Possibilities was born, and I am excited to bring this vision to life, both for myself, and for the enormously talented people who are on this journey with me.

It is incredibly satisfying to work with people who have a need that I can solve, either through my own skill set as a marketing communications professional or as a writer, or else, through a carefully curated group of specialists with mastery in their own fields.

Let me know how I can help. Thank you for stopping by.
