Kajal Basu
Kajal Basu is a journalist, based in Kolkata, with four decades of experience in conflict and political reportage, and in data journalism. He has edited far more books than he has featured in. Although with a preference for nonfiction content-editing, he has edited fiction, too, including the memoirs of one of India’s leading writers in English. A compendium of the experiences of old-guard Indian journalists that he is the editor of is on the publishing cards. He is a columnist at the New Indian Express.
It’s possible he will fervidly deny any such charge, but he is probably one of the sharpest minds making sense of the social-political landscape in India today, with both an encyclopaedic understanding of historical context, and a razor-sharp ability to deepen our understanding of current events.
